1. Mac 217 Blending Brush VS Sigma E25 Blending Brush

A good quality blending brush (or more) is a must-have in any girl’s makeup kit. Both these products are a delight to use. Both the Mac 217 and Sigma E25 are made of goat hairs. This alone confers them a sturdy yet refined feeling. As for the price tags, here they are:

  • Mac 217 – $25
  • Sigma E25 – $14

If you haven’t tried Sigma’s makeup brushes, then you’re in for a treat. Their eyeshadow blending brushes are certainly comparable to Mac brushes as far as quality is concerned. Both companies sell brushes which are known to last, maintain their shape and never shed. With an $11 price difference, who could challenge the fact that Sigma E25, the Mac 217 dupe, has a strong selling point?

2. Mac Diva Lipstick VS Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick (Divine Wine)

The permanent lipstick collection proposed by Mac has long occupied the top spots in everyone’s preference lists. Nonetheless, more and more alternatives are making a name on the market. Take the Mac Diva dupe proposed by Maybelline and dubbed Divine Wine. Price tags:

  • Mac Diva Lipstick – $17
  • Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick Divine Wine – $7.

Mac Diva is one of the trademark Mac red shades for lipstick. Its defining note is certainly warm and rich, while the finish is matte. It applies evenly and smoothly, without forming unsightly creases and color surpluses.

Maybelline Creamy Mate in Divine Wine is a slightly deeper red shade than Mac Diva. Nonetheless, this Mac Diva dupe has been praised for lasting longer and offering more hydration than its peer. How do they fare with regards to pigmentation? Both are as richly pigmented. Price difference: $10.

3. Mac Twig Lipstick VS Maybelline Touch of Spice

Twig is yet another classic lipstick shade in the vast Mac collection. Which product do you think qualifies as a good Mac Twig dupe? Another Maybelline lipstick which is known as Touch of Spice. Prices for the two makeup products:

  • Mac Twig – $17
  • Maybelline Touch of Spice – $7.49.

Both lipsticks are part of the same brown/rose/mauve nuance family. Both offer the same creamy matte finish. However, the distinguishable trait of the Maybelline Touch of Spice lipstick is that it provides both long-lasting coverage and the much-needed hydration you deserve.

4. Mac Paint Pot VS Maybelline Color Tattoo

Speaking of excellent Mac dupes, Maybelline’s Color Tattoo qualifies as the perfect Mac Paint Pot dupe. The entire series of cream eyeshadows which can be used as eyeshadow foundation or by themselves is stunning. Not that Mac Paint Pot doesn’t offer a complete collection of gorgeous colors and the well-known high-quality standards. Price comparison:

  • Mac Paint Pot – $22
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo – $8.

As a Mac Paint Pot dupe, Maybelline Color Tattoo has a slightly different feel. The texture is thicker. Nonetheless, both products perform equally well. Yet, with an almost $10 price difference, Maybelline’s Color Tattoo is a sweet deal.

5. Mac Rebel Lipstick VS Wet’n’Wild Sugar Plum Fairy

Mac Rebel is one of the edgiest hues Mac has to offer. With a satin finish, it has been a top choice for years. What is the Mac Rebel dupe that has quickly raised to the same fame? Wet’n’Wild Sugar Plum Fairy. Here’s how the two makeup products fare as far as the price range is concerned:

  • Rimmel Stay Mate Pressed Powder – $5.49

Other US retailers may put up different prices for the Mac Studio Fix Powder dupe. Nonetheless, the price range doesn’t vary anywhere beyond $6.50. Still a sweeter deal than the hefty price sported by Mac makeup product.

We already told you that Wet’n’Wild sports an impressive collection of Mac dupes that come in identical shades and with similar properties. Well, Stoplight Red lipstick isn’t any exception. • Mac Russian Red – $17
  • Wet’n’Wild Stoplight Red – $1.99.

9. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish VS Makeup Revolution Rock on World Baked Bronzer

Mac’s Mineralize Skinfinish is that powder highlighter and bronzer we’ve been dreaming of. Spanning the spectrum from sheer nuances to nude nuances and deep, rich nuances, Mac Mineralize Skinfinish is the 77-mineral complex powder you simply must have.

Nonetheless, the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish dupe we choose deserves the same praise. Here are the price tags of both makeup products:

  • Mac Mineralize Skinfinish – $32
  • Makeup Revolution Rock on World Baked Bronzer – $6.

The price difference clearly makes the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish dupe an essential buy. Please note that the texture is a bit lighter. Nonetheless, you’ll get the same beautiful shimmer whether you use Mac or Makeup Revolution.

Mac dupes shouldn’t be confused with fake Mac products. Unfortunately, the latter are also found quite often on the market. Learn to make the difference and Mac dupes will save you a considerable amount of money in time. Don’t forget that they bring the same high-quality standards you have come to know and love about Mac products.

This is my very 1st post on Vanity No Apologies and needless to say I am equally nervous and excited so please be kind and bear with me. I will get better with time I promise! Since the time I started looting myself to buy MAC lipsticks I have been wanting to sue the people who name the lipsticks. Why? Oh well what can a poor girl do if lipsticks are named- Syrup, Girl About Town, Cosmo and so on? Well….. buy them for one. So I wanted to get Diva even before I had tried it on me!

Diva is described by MAC as Intense reddish burgundy in a matte finish. The color is one typical example of looking all dark and dreary in the bullet but once on lips, it unleashes the dark sensuous diva within you and just grabs all attention in its dark maroonish brown burgundy color. It is an extremely daring color to pull off but once you do nobody can stop you! The color reminds me strongly of only 1 thing and that is…err.. No wait I don’t want to spoil your appetite just now!

Since it is a matte finish (that is full on pigmentation) Diva delivers just that! 1 swipe and whoosh – A deep dark rich color which covers any sort of lip pigmentation. However Diva is not a retro matte like our famous Ruby Woo and instead falls in the category of creamier mattes and hence is smoother and easier to apply. But beware! If you were sloppy as a kid in coloring and step out of your lip line well..god help you! Once it gets even a bit smeared the stain will just not go from your skin so do use a liner.

The lasting power as is with matte finishes is super awesome and lasts throughout the day with all meals and drinks and stains as a sexy remnant of the original color on your lips (I like the stain better!)

Diva like all other MAC lipsticks of the permanent range comes in a typical black and silver packaging with a tight click cap making it travel friendly.

The Good things about Mac Diva:

Diva Skin Care

  • Travel friendly packaging.
  • Intensely pigmented, gives true color in just 1 swipe.
  • Ravishing dark hot reddish burgundy color which can transform any look in a swipe.
  • Awesome lasting power- lasts throughout the day.
  • Does not dry out lips like other regular matte lipsticks.
  • Leaves behind a rich stain.
  • Yummy vanilla fragrance.

The Bad things about Mac Diva:

  • Bad idea to wear without a lip liner. It stains skin horribly.
  • A difficult shade to pull off !

Hope you liked my review and oh yes I know the question still bubbling in your minds- what does Diva really resemble?? Dried blood! I mean really! It gives it the sexy vampire twist. I even wanted mock fangs for my lip swatches!

Do I recommend? If you are familiar with rich, deep dark shades then Diva is the absolutely correct choice to bring out the diva in you. A single swipe transforms your simple look into a glam avatar and once you gain the confidence to carry it off you are going to fall head over heels in love. I do believe however, that this shade will be more apt for medium to dusky Indian girls.

Editor: Mac Diva is rumored to be the lipstick Anne Hathaway wore as a catwoman in Dark Knight Rises. If you are looking at dupes than Inglot Round Lipstick Refill #86 comes quite close. And if you prefer rich deep shades in general than check my swatches of L’oreal Intense Ruby.
